Luanda - The possibility of changing the political and administrative division of the country before the general elections in August this year was Thursday ruled out by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
In a press conference given to five national and foreign media outlets, the Head of State said that, once the intention had been expressed and a public hearing had been held, the new division should not take place because of the need to mobilise resources for the approved provincial headquarters.
He stated that the new political and administrative division of the country would also imply the creation of infrastructures, especially in the localities that would host the new provincial capitals and their own budgets.
In July of last year the President of the Republic had set up a multi-sectoral commission to change Angola's political and administrative division.
