Elections2022: João Lourenço awaits court´s decision

 Luanda - The president of the MPLA party, João Lourenço, said Sunday in Luanda that he was “serenely” awaiting the Constitutional Courts (TC)’s decision on the definitive results of the 24th August general elections.



On his official twitter page, João Lourenço wrote that “The MPLA took to the streets yesterday to celebrate the fifth victory”, according to the election results.

 

“Let us wait calmly for the Constitutional Court´s decision. Then we will organise the second feast, the inauguration ceremony and the following acts. Angolans, we are together”, it's written in today´s (4) publication.

 

According to the definitive results published by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the MPLA won with absolute majority (51.17%) corresponding to roughly 3.2 million votes, thus confirming the re-election of its presidential candidate, João Lourenço, as well as the Vice-President, Esperança Costa, gaining 124 parliamentary seats.

 

The final data made public by the CNE give UNITA 43,95% (winning 90 MPs), PRS 1,14% (2 MPs), FNLA 1,06% (2 MPs) and PHA 1,02% (2 MPs).

 

CASA-CE with 0.76%, APN 0.48% and P-NJANGO with 0.42% did not get any MPs.

 

Angola has held elections since 1992 and all were won by      the MPLA.

Angola attends Annual Agro-Mashov international exhibition

 Luanda - An Angolan multi-sector delegation traveled Saturday (03) to Tel Aviv, Israel, to participate in the 31st Annual Agro-Mashov International Exhibition at Jerusalem’s International Convention Center (Binianei Haumá) on 5 and 6 September.



The event will allow the country to strengthen trade relations, establish new contacts and get in touch with innovations and technological developments.

The event is part of the strategy to increase exports and entry into Kosher markets.

The programme includes special sessions and conferences on topics related to the agricultural world, with the participation of hundreds of exhibitors, and thousands of farmers.

Angola is represented by a delegation that include senior staff from the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX).

Also more than a dozen private producers will show the country's agricultural potential in Israel.

Elections 2022: MPLA wants people’s participation in governance

 Malanje - MPLA party in northern Malanje province wants more effective participation of the citizens in the development of the region in next five-year term (2022-2027).



The call was made by the first provincial secretary of this political organisation in Malanje, Norberto dos Santos “Kwata Kanawa” on Saturday.

The politician launched the appeal at the end of a march to celebrate MPLA's victory, obtained in the August 24 general elections, saying that there are "enormous challenges" in the new governance.

Norberto dos Santos thanked the Angolans who voted for the MPLA, adding that his party also respects the will of those who voted for the other political parties.

In Malanje province, MPLA won three MPs, of the five seats contended in the region. The remaining two seats went to UNITA.

MPLA in Huambo vows to carry out inspection

The second secretary of  MPLA in central Huambo province, Adérito Chimuco, Saturday called the militants for greater supervision of the party's governance programme for 2022-2027 term.

Addressing an event to commemorate the party’s victory in the recent general elections, the politician said that the military and the population should demand the fulfillment of the governance programme emerged from the polls, expected to improve the socio-economic conditions” of all Angolans.

He called on the militants to help the Government improve the people’s  living conditions and provide a quality service.

The politician added that the MPLA is committed to continue working on the construction of a nation where all Angolans can live with dignity.

The MPLA won three of the five MPs for Huambo provincial constituency and UNITA two.

Final results released by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) gave MPLA the victory with 51.17 percent of the votes.

Elections2022: US highlights participation of Angolans

 Luanda - The United States of America (US) on Tuesday highlighted the broad participation of Angolans in the elections on 24 August.



“We look forward to working together on a path to a safer, more secure and prosperous Angola for all. We will continue to monitor the electoral process closely”, reads the statement posted on the US State Department´s website.

 

On the note, the US calls on politicians to express themselves in a peaceful manner and to settle any complaints according to the legal procedures applicable to Angolan law.

 

According to the definitive results published by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), MPLA won with 51.17% corresponding to 209.429 votes, thus confirming the re-election of its candidate, João Lourenço and gaining 124 parliamentary seats.

 

The largest opposition party, UNITA, conquered 43.95% (2.756.786 votes), thus winning 90 parliamentary seats, while the  PRS, with its federalism banner only got 1,14% (71,351 votes, 2 MPs), the same as the historical FNLA 1,06% (66,337 votes, 2 MPs) and PHA with 1,02% (63,749 votes, 2 MPs).

 

The coalition CASA-CE got 0.76% (47,446 votes), APN  0.48%(30,139 votes) and P-NJANGO with 0.42% (26,867 votes), as consuequence they did not manage to win a single seat in the National Assembly (parliament).

Elections2022: CASA-CE rejects election results

 Luanda - CASA-CE coalition Tuesday (30) rejected the final results of the general elections conducted on 24 August, released Monday by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).


In a statement sent to the media, CASA-CE Board, which filed a written complaint to the CNE, states that the results "do not reflect the electoral truth expressed by Angola’s sovereign people".

It guarantees that, in the light of the country’s Constitution and the Electoral Law, it will use all legal mechanisms to have the complaint settled.

The Board appealed to its militants to keep calm, courage, determination and remain in good mood, but told them to avoid the acts of vandalism and riots.

Announcing the final results of the general elections, the Angolan Electoral Commission (CNE) gave the ruling MPLA party the victory, with 51.17 percent, as result of 3. 2 million, deserving 124 MPs.

UNITA, the largest opposition party, second ranked, obtained 43.95 percent (2.7million), corresponding to 90 MPs.

PRS garnered 1.14% (71,351 votes), FNLA 1.06% (66,337 votes) and PHA 1.02% (63,49 votes) got two seats each.

While, CASA-CE, with 0.76 percent (47,446 votes), did not get any MP, neither did the APN, with 0.48 percent (30,139 votes) and P-NJANGO with 0.42 percent (26,867 votes).

Elections2022: CNE confirms sending final report on the elections to Constitutional Court

 Luanda – The National Electoral Commission (CNE) announced Monday sending a copy of the Final Report on the 24 August general election results to the Acting President of the Republic and to the Chieg Judge of the Constitutional Court (TC).



On a statement to which ANGOP had access, CNE stresses that its procedure is according to the Organic Law on the General Elections.

 

According to the said report, the definitive results give the MPLA electoral victory of 51.17% of the votes, thus confirming the re-election of its presidential candidate, João Lourenço.

  

The ruling party won 3.209,429 votes, thus gaining 124 parliamentary seats

 

The final data made public by the CNE give UNITA 43,95% (2.756.786 votes, winning 90 MPs), PRS 1,14% (71,351 votes, 2 MPs), FNLA 1,06% (66,337 votes, 2 MPs) and PHA with 1,02% (63,749 votes, 2 MPs).

 

CASA-CE with 0.76% (47,446 votes), APN with 0.48%(30,139 votes) and P-NJANGO with 0.42% (26,867 votes) did not get any MPs.

 

Eight political forces ran in this suffrage which has as total number of voters 6.454,109, representing 44.82% of roughly 14.3 million registered voters.
