Meghan Markle wanted to live in Windsor Castle and be seen as a princess, royal expert claims

Meghan Markle wanted to be seen as a princess, which is likely why she and Prince Harry requested to reside at Windsor Castle after marrying.

Prince Harry and Markle married in 2018 and moved into Frogmore Cottage. The home is located on the grounds of Windsor Castle and is property belonging to the Crown Estate.

However, Markle seemingly didn’t want to live there.

“Frogmore Cottage is a stunning estate on the Windsor Castle grounds. I can confirm that Prince Harry and Meghan had requested a space within Windsor Castle but were offered Frogmore Cottage instead,” Kinsey Schofield, royal expert and host of the “To Di For Daily” podcast, told Fox News Digital.

Before Prince Harry and Markle got married, Prince William and Princess Catherine were living in renovated apartments inside Kensington Palace. At the time, Prince Harry lived alone in Nottingham Cottage, a small home detached from the palace where William and Catherine were.

“Part of me wonders if Meghan constantly evaluating what Prince William and Catherine had versus what she was offered is what initially instigated the Windsor Castle pursuits,” Schofield said.

“It is clear that Meghan wants to be seen as a princess, and a princess needs a castle.”

However, Frogmore Cottage gave Markle and Prince Harry “more room and more privacy,” Schofield said.

Queen Elizabeth II’s decision to give Frogmore Cottage to Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Markle, Duchess of Sussex, might have stemmed from the couple’s propensity for drama, according to the royal expert.

“Windsor Castle had always been a sacred escape for Queen Elizabeth, and based on the amount of drama that the Sussexes had caused in such a short amount of time, I don’t think the queen wanted them right under her nose,” Schofield said.

“Additionally, Prince Harry and Meghan seemed resentful of royal responsibilities and the attention that comes with it,” she added, reiterating that the Sussexes clearly prioritized privacy. “Would they have been able to tolerate the amount of tourists that come through the Windsor Castle grounds regularly or would that kind of attention have proven to be a burden?”

After Harry and Markle stepped back from their royal roles in 2020, the couple moved to the U.S. They now live in California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, although Frogmore Cottage is still technically their residence when visiting the U.K.

Markle even noted in an interview with The Cut that the couple still has items at Frogmore Cottage — including a diary she kept while living there. The former actress uncovered the journal while visiting the U.K. for the queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June.

“You go back and you open drawers and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh. This is what I was writing in my journal there? And here’s all my socks from this time?’” Markle told the outlet.

The couple most recently stayed at Frogmore Cottage during the 10-day royal mourning period after the death of Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

R. Kelly to pay $300,000 to victim in sex crimes

A federal judge signaled, on Wednesday, that she plans to order disgraced R&B superstar R. Kelly to pay more than $300,000 to one of his victims in a decades-long scheme to use his fame to sexually abuse young fans.

A restitution order by U.S. District Judge Ann Connelly that was still being finalized is meant to cover the cost of treatment for herpes and psychotherapy. The victim, referred to only by a pseudonym, has accused the jailed Kelly of giving her the sexually transmitted disease during one of their encounters.

Kelly could be on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars more to pay for herpes treatment and counselling for a second victim once the final tally is calculated. The judge rejected a third claim by another accuser.

The Grammy-winning, multiplatinum-selling songwriter appeared at the hearing in federal court in Brooklyn via video from a lockup in Chicago, and only spoke to exchange greetings with the judge and to turn down an offer to say more. None of the victims was in attendance.

Earlier this year, Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison following a trial in New York where the jury found him guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking. The second trial in Chicago ended on September 14 with his conviction on charges of producing child pornography and enticing girls for sex.

The question now in the New York case becomes when and how Kelly will pay the restitution. Prosecutors claim he has access to as much as $5 million to go along with about $28,000 seized from his inmate commissary account that defense attorney Jennifer Bonjean said was made up of small donations from fans.

Bonjean told the judge that Kelly has no access to any other funds because of judgments in civil cases brought against him. She also insisted that her client has always been clueless about his finances.

“He’s not the best source of that information,” she said.

Kelly achieved superstar status for work including the 1996 hit “I Believe I Can Fly” and the cult classic “Trapped in the Closet,” a multipart tale of sexual betrayal and intrigue.

Ghanaian footballer in the US dies in car crash

A Ghanaian footballer based in the United States, Eugene Quaynor has died.

The 23-year-old was involved in a car accident on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in South Tulsa, US.

According to police, the student-athlete who played for the Flint City Bucks was at a stop light when an SUV with a drunk driver crashed into the back of his car.

The impact pushed Eugene’s vehicle through the intersection into a wall after which it caught fire.

Police said all attempts by witnesses present to drag the footballer to safety proved futile.

A statement from the Oral Roberts University Athletics department eulogised the deceased saying “Eugene was the epitome of the mission we strive for.”

“He was a captain and had a spirit-empowered heart ready to impact the world for Jesus. His infectious smile will be missed, but we will never forget #27,” the tweet stated.

Mr Quaynor was the captain of Oral Roberts University’s men’s football team.

He also majored in sports management at the institution.

A local league in the community, The Summit, has also postponed Saturday’s fixtures “due to the devastating loss of ORUMSoccer student-athlete Eugene Quaynor.”

Tiffany Haddish says she lost all her gigs after abuse claim

Following a notice of dismissal filed by the plaintiffs for a lawsuit involving allegations of molestation against comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears, Haddish says the suit has cost her work.

The “Girls Trip” star talked to TMZ about the aftermath of her and Spears being accused of having “groomed and molested” two then-minor siblings years ago in a lawsuit originally filed earlier this month in Los Angeles Superior Court.

“I lost everything,” she said when she was questioned at LAX airport on Wednesday. “All my gigs are gone.”

The complainants were referred to as “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” in the suit, which stated their names are being withheld to protect their privacy.

According to the complaint, a copy of which was obtained by CNN, “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” were 14 and 7, respectively, when Haddish and Spears allegedly had them participate in sexually suggestive videos in separate incidents in 2013 and 2014.

The pair are siblings and Haddish was a “longtime family friend” of their mother. The incidents allegedly occurred while Haddish was supposedly trying to help the youngsters get into show business, according to the suit.

At the time the suit was filed, an attorney for Haddish said in a statement to CNN that the plaintiff’s mother “has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years.”

“Every attorney who has initially taken on her case — and there were several — ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms Haddish would not be shaken down,” the statement read, adding that the mother “has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action.”

Jane Doe filed a notice of dismissal Tuesday and the case was dismissed with prejudice based on documentation provided to CNN by a representative for Haddish.

Dismissal with prejudice means the case cannot be refiled.

“My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years — and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us,” Doe said in a statement. “We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”

CNN has reached out to “Jane Doe” for comment. Attorneys for Haddish and Spears have not responded to CNN’s requests for comment.

When asked by TMZ if she thought the dismissal might help her, Haddish responded, “I don’t know, bro. I don’t have no job.”

In a separate TMZ video, the actress said she was “concerned about the kids and making sure they were OK,” adding she felt “relieved” the lawsuit has been withdrawn and does not talk to Spears.

Stay calm Burkina Faso leader says

A statement has been posted on the official Facebook page of the presidency of Burkina Faso, in which the country’s leader Lt Col Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba urges the population to “stay calm and be careful” amid reports of gunfire and a heavy military presence in the capital.

There are reports that a coup may be taking place, but a government source, who wished to remain anonymous, told the BBC some soldiers had mutinied.

Lt Col Damiba also said people should not panic over what they are reading on social media.

“Talks are under way to restore calm and serenity,” amid a “confused” situation caused by certain elements of the army, the statement said.

“The enemy attacking our country only wants division between Burkinabès to accomplish its destabilisation action”, it continued.

Reports of Possible Coup In Burkina Faso: National TV Off Amid Heavy Gunfire

There are multiple reports of massive gunfire in the capital of Burkina Faso, where a coup is reportedly underway. The national broadcaster, Radio and TV, has gone off since the wee hours of today, Friday, September 30, 2022. Reports indicate that there was a heavy gunfight overnight.

The Reuters news agency reports that the gunfire is coming from the main army camp and some residential areas in the capital.

Multiple tweets indicate that there is a heavy army presence, and some roads have been blocked. The current military junta headed by Col. Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba deposed the democratically elected government of Christian Marc Kabore in January, citing the failure of the government to curb rising insecurity.

Since taking over, however, the security situation in the country has continued to deteriorate with attacks on military personnel and formations.

The most recent incident led to the death of 11 soldiers with about 50 civilians missing in what is suspected to be a terrorist attack.

A BBC report said twenty-eight other people, including 20 soldiers, were wounded in the Monday attack, and a search for the missing people is ongoing. The vehicles, which were escorted by a military patrol, had been taking supplies to residents in the north of the country, it added.

Junta leader speaks at UN General Assembly

The junta leader, while addressing the just ended 77th United Nations General Assembly, defended the January 24 overthrow of the democratically elected president, describing it as “necessary and indispensable.” “It was, above all, an issue of survival for our nation,” he said. That’s even if it was “perhaps reprehensible in terms of the principles held dear by the United Nations and the international community as a whole.”

On the issue of terrorist threat across the region, he emphasized: “No precautions or prevention measures will prevent terrorism from crossing the Atlantic if the Sahel is abandoned.

“Nothing at all will be able to stop the youth in the Sahel countries and its surroundings from giving in to the temptation of perilous immigration to Europe through the Sahara and the Mediterranean if these youth no longer have any hope by staying at home.”
