East Africa Emerging Public Interest Advocates Programme 2021 for young Legal Professionals (Fully Funded)

The East Africa Emerging Public Interest Advocates Program for young legal professionals is a flagship fellowship program by the Center for Strategic Litigation (CSL) in partnership with other East African organizations including the Network of Public Interest Lawyers (NETPIL), Legal and Human Rights Center ( LHRC), Katiba Institute, Kituo cha Sheria, Advocates for Natural Resources and Development, Tax Justice Network - Africa, Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights, Initiative for Social and Economic Rights, Tree of Hope and Justice Centers.

The fellowship provides up to 30 outstanding young advocates from Kenya, Tanzania (mainland), Tanzania (Zanzibar) and Uganda with an opportunity to learn from public interest litigation and advocacy academics and practitioners, both in class and in court for six (6) months under the following carefully designed curriculum

Benefits

• Economy travel to and from your country of residence by an approved route for you only. CSL will not purchase any travel tickets for a fellow unless they can show proof of all valid travel documents (e.g. valid passports). CSL will not be liable for any loss or expenses (including airfares) for travel delays incurred by the fellow as a result of inaccurate information provided by the fellow, delays in submitting the appropriate forms to the relevant authorities or refusals of host or transit country authorities to grant a visa to the fellow.

• During the travel period covered under the training program, it is the fellow’s responsibility to comply with all local laws and legislation of the country to which he or she will travel.

• A stipend during the practicum phase (contingent upon completion of deliverables / set milestones)

Egbin Power Plc. Is West Africa’s largest power generation station with an installed capacity of 1,320 MW consisting of 6 Units of 220MW each. One of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Our future aim is to lead the movement to ‘Light up Nigeria’ and the wider sub-Saharan African region.


Overview of the Industrial Attachment Program

This is a short term Internship program (three-six months).

The state of the art facility will give you the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge you have gained in the course of your study.

You will experience first-hand, the practicability of basic engineering principles, scientific theories and how income is generated from power generation.

As an intern, you will be integrated into our multifunctional team of subject matter experts in the industry, from the very first day on the job.

You will be assigned to a learning coordinator who will be responsible for your learning activities across various sections throughout your learning experience.

You will enjoy one-on-one engagement with various professionals who can provide assistance regarding understanding the technical concepts of your course of study.

This program will give you enormous exposure to the skills and confidence required to become the power industry's next generation of experts.

You will enjoy the scenery of a well thought out work-life integrated facility.


Key Requirements

Students with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division (2: 1) or Upper Credit as at the time of submitting this application.

Required field of study are Engineering, Applied Industrial Science, Finance, Information & Technology and Environmental & Safety.

Climate Tracker Paid Media Mentorship Program 2021 for Climate Journalists and Media Professionals

It’s all-encompassing and engaging. The online training program will see 12 young journalists from around the world dive into a paid 3-month mentorship with us! As a selected participant, you will be challenged and supported to publish 1 climate-related feature story each month on the Climate Tracker website. One story per month at $ 150USD per story, for three months.

All the while, you’ll also be a part of a diverse media mentorship program, undergoing a range of connected training and collaborations covering social media engagement, data and visual journalism, and podcasting. A great chance to sharpen your new media skills to amplify your journalism and boost your marketability.

Westerwelle Young Founders Programme Spring 2021 for young Entrepreneurs from emerging and developing countries (Fully Funded to Berlin, Germany)

The Westerwelle Young Founders Program is a fully funded 6-month-long program for outstanding young entrepreneurs from emerging and developing countries. The program aims to connect young founders from all over the world and offers a mentoring program tailored to their particular challenges. It supports them in further developing their entrepreneurial skills and their international network.

Requirements

You have recently (in the last 5 years) started a for-profit company with a scalable business model that has achieved Product-Market Fit and has ideally secured first external funding (if you run a business model that requires external investment);

your company is based in a developing or emerging country or has a strong business focus on developing and emerging economies;

you possess a good working knowledge of English;

you are available to attend the digital kick-off conference and can make time to participate in monthly mentoring and peer mentoring calls for the 6-month program.

The Top-10 Conference - a week-long conference in Berlin for the ten best performing startups who will be given the unique chance to pitch in front of investors, participate in workshops and networking events and get an insight into the German startup scene. (travel and accommodation will be covered by the Westerwelle Foundation);

A personal mentor who is an experienced entrepreneur and will function as a sparring partner with whom you can discuss upcoming challenges and new opportunities;

Monthly peer mentoring calls with the other successful Young Founders of the cohort to share knowledge with and support each other;

Expert sessions on relevant topics (e.g. OKRs, investor KPIs, marketing & sales);
