Girls back to school after lockdowns - Campaign with Sofonie Dala. Don't miss it! Webisode 12

If you have a young child who is in primary school and who seems anxious about going back to school, try to talk to them as frequently as possible about school.

There are some young people who feel very anxious when school starts. These tend to be young people who experienced signs of anxiety prior to the coronavirus outbreak.

Our today's guest is Laura, she will share with us her experiences during covid-19 pandemic.

1. Introduction

My name is Laurinda De Carvalho. I am 22 years old, studying Physical-Biological Sciences in the 12 grade.

2. How has covid - 19 affected your student life?

Covid-19 affected me a lot because I stopped studying and doing other extracurricular activities, before the pandemic I was doing provincial trips but now everything is stuck.

3. Now that schools have reopened, have you gone back to school?

Now that the schools have reopened I am back to study, I am very happy because studying is better than staying at home doing nothing.

4. Has your school distributed any biosecurity materials?

My school didn't distribute any biosafety materials, we only have the school guard who measures our temperature daily, and we also have taps on the school's main gate and in the classroom to wash hands.

5. What are the prevention measures against covid - 19 you saw that the government/ school created to ensure your safety?

We must keep 1 meter of distance inside the classroom and must not have any kind of contact with colleagues such as kisses and hugs. I didn't see the government sending any biosecurity material to the school.

6. How do you feel? Are you enjoying going to class or you are scared?

I am really enjoying going to school, but of course I am also very scared since Covid-19 is a very dangerous and easily transmitted disease. I'm scared, I don't want to be sick.

Earthquake struck Turkey’s western coast

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake has hit Seferihisar, a coastal town in the western province of Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city. The tremors emanated from the Aegean Sea at a 16.5 kilometres (10 miles) depth and felt across the Greek islands, Izmir and as far as Istanbul in the north.

Six people are said to have died with more than 200 injured, as at the time of this report. Most inhabitants have been thrown into panic as the strong quake drove masses into the streets.

Turkey has in the past and as recently as last January experienced major earthquakes that have claimed thousands of lives. Some buildings have been reported to have collapsed and the count is still on as current figures hover around 20.

The government has mobilized all respective institutions and personnel to rescue the situation with urgency and diligence. People have been pulled out alive from the rubble, however injured.

People have been warned by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) to stay away from their homes in light of visibly damaged buildings.
A secondary earthquake is likely to occur and could cause more collapse to already damaged buildings.

According to Boğaziçi University’s Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, “ the secondary earthquake could be up to 5.8 magnitudes and a strong tremor might knock down already damaged buildings”, Doğan Kalafat the Kandilli Observatory Manager noted.

Italian village will pay you £40,000 to move and live there for at least five years

ANOTHER Italian village is offering you money to move there - and you could be paid up to £40,000.

Italian village will pay you £40,000 to move and live there for at least five years

Not only that, there’s also the offer of much cheaper rent when living in the hilltop village two hours from Rome.

The small village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio is trying to encourage more people to move and work from the settlement.

The deal includes a monthly wage for the first three years, up to the value of €8,000 (£7,200) per year – working out to just over £21,000.

A one-off grant of €20,000 (£18,000) will also be given for anyone starting a new business that helps the town, such as in the food or service industry.

While the deal also includes a deal on a rental property, this is yet to be established regarding how much new locals would pay.

The only catch is you must be able to become a resident of Italy, and be under 40. You must also live there for at least five years.

It isn’t the same as the €1 houses often advertised in Italy, according to the Mayor Fabio Santavicca.

He told CNN Travel: “We’re not selling anything to anyone — this isn’t a business move. We just want to enable the village to continue to live.”

There are currently just 115 people living there, with more than half of them pensioners and less than 20 are kids under the age of 13, according to CNN.

More than 1,500 have applied since it was announced earlier this month, but lucky applicants are likely to be young couples, according to Mr Santavicca.

Sounds ideal? You have to be quick as the offer closes November 15.
