LUNDA NORTE GOVERNMENT REITERATES SUPPORT TO DRC REFUGEES



Dundo - The government of Lunda Norte, reiterated, Sunday, continuous support to refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo located, since May 2017, in settlement of Lóvua.

According to a message on the occasion of the Refugees' Day sent to ANGOP, the local government will, within its possibilities, continue to guarantee the basic rights to this fringe, ensuring free access to education, health and justice.

In the letter, the government reaffirms its commitment to continue working with its partners to boost the process of reintegration of refugees, implementing projects that aim to stimulate entrepreneurship, for their self-income.

It advanced that free access to health, respect for human rights, protection, among other actions, will remain in the priorities of the local government, which ensures to strengthen relations with its partners, such as the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Jesuit Services for the and Refugees, for the projects directed to the displaced to be efficient and sustainable.

PRESIDENT JOÃO LOURENÇO AT UN MEETING ON CAR



0Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, is travelling Monday to New York to attend the special session of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Central African Republic (CAR).

João Lourenço is travelling to the UN headquarters in his capacity as President of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), according to his spokesman, Luís Fernando.

The spokesman said that the Angolan statesman would be absent from the country for a few days to work for African diplomacy, peace and stability in the Great Lakes region, specifically in the CAR.

Angola has held the rotating presidency of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region since November 2020.

During the meeting of the UN Security Council, scheduled for Wednesday, João Lourenço will take stock of what has been done, under Angola's leadership, in the collective effort to seek peace and security in the CAR.

In January and April of this year, two mini-summits were held in Luanda on the initiative of the Angolan presidency of the ICGLR, events which were followed by three other meetings of foreign ministers from Angola, Rwanda and CAR, in May and June, in Bangui (CAR), aimed at harmonising ideas and positions for the implementation of a roadmap leading to peace.

COVID-19: ANGOLA REPORTS 87 RECOVERIES, 74 NEW INFECTIONS



Luanda - Angola has recorded for the last 24 hours the recovery of 87 patients, 74 new cases and 3 deaths.

According to the daily bulletin, 75 patients reside in Luanda, 8 in Huíla and 4 in Huambo.

Of the new cases, 40 were diagnosed in Luanda, 20 in Huíla, 8 in Huambo, 3 in Benguela, 2 in Zaire and 1 in Cunene.

Among the deaths, one was registered in Luanda, one in Cunene and one in Lunda Sul.

In the last 24 hours, laboratories have processed 831 samples.

There are 77 people under institutional quarantine, while 117 patients are in hospitalisation centres and 2,368 are under epidemiological surveillance.

The country records 37,678 positive cases, with 859 deaths, 31,676 recovered patients and 5,143 active. Of the active ones, 18 are in critical condition, 28 severe, 35 moderate, 36 mild and 5,026 asymptomatic.
