Plane crash update from Pakistan!

A very painful day for Pakistan ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ
Entire country is mourning over loss of valuable lives.

90+ casualties are reported so far in plane crash ✈️ and fortunately there are couple of survivors.

Event occurred due to technical glitch (both engines failed) and landing distance was only 1 minute away from Karachi International Airport.

Alass—Death distance couldn’t cover in minute.

Country is observing “Eid Ul Fitar” after a day and their beloved ones won’t be with them which mades situation more painful.

Foreigners,businessman,Media personnel and very important personalities are also in victims list.

May God grant heaven to martyrs and patience to the families.

Professor Ruth Hall holds the South African Research Chair in Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies, which is funded by the National Research Foundation. The Chair is located at the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) at the University of the Western Cape. This allows her to recruit, support and supervise Master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral students.

Scholarships are available to join Professor Hall’s programme. While the scholarships will cover fees and living expenses, the Chair also
provides access to funds for other study-related costs, among others: equipment, fieldwork and conference attendance.

Applications are invited for the following, starting in 2020:

• Five scholarships for Masters (2 years if full-time)
• Four scholarships for Doctoral study (3 years if full-time, extendable to a 4th year)
• Two fellowships for Post-doctoral study (2 years)

The Africa AI Accelerator Program has been designed by Ghana Tech Lab (GTL) to promote local innovations in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data usage.

The Program has been structured to provide startups with product development and business development support through a blended accelerator program with a virtual and physical interface. Customized to boost collaboration between startups and corporates, commercial partners, and investors, participating startups will receive support to meet clear growth aspirations through measurable targets setting.

Requirements

Be a for-profit startup, operating in Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda, or Uganda, with a team of at least two people.
Operational for at least one year
Already have any of the following:
An Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) product or service.

Have the prerequisites to include AI or ML into existing products or services including a detailed concept.

Products or services which are needed to develop AI or ML products or services including training data collection.
Have traction with early revenue and early customers, with a clearly demonstrated potential to scale.

Have a business model with a social impact, i.e. with a solution to a problem as described in the Sustainable Development Goals.

Have an up to date Venture Profile on VC4A with appropriate information for business and financing partners.

Requirements

Individuals, including academics, entrepreneurs, scientists, technologists and other engaged citizens.
Organizations involved in research, advocacy, design and implementation of digital identification, digital payment or social protection systems.

Benefits

Finalists for the Regional Prize will receive mentorship from Google Developers Experts and be invited to a high-level event at the World Bank to present their solutions and to compete for $150,000 in cash prizes.
