The AREF Research Development Fellowship (RDF) Programme is being launched to support African researchers who are working on important challenges for human health in Africa. 

Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be a national of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa. You need not be resident in Africa at the time of applying, provided that your application is officially supported by an African institution that meets the eligibility criteria for an employing institution and which attests that it intends to employ you locally. 

Benefits

A three to nine-month placement at a leading research institution in Europe or Africa, with additional support at your home institution before and after the placement, up to a maximum of £38,000.

Are you passionate about the Sustainable Development Goals or you run an organization that is working towards implementing SDGs related projects and activities? The Nigeria Youth SDGs Network (NGYouthSDGs) is on a drive to expand and engage more young people in achieving the 2030 Agenda with a focus on human capacity development and access to decent work.

The Nigerian Youth Network is an alliance of over 200 youth-led/focus civil society organisations working together to ensure Nigeria keeps her promise to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), both at home and abroad. The Network is actively providing opportunities for youth-led/focus civil society organizations to make their voice count as we hold government accountable for the SDGs and we raise awareness across communities telling everyone about the Sustainable Development Goals through providing data to track SDGs implementation in Nigeria, ensure collaborations amongst organizations and work closely with government, academia, business, and religious stakeholders to ensure that we achieve the SDGs by 2030.

Together with the National Research Foundation (NRF) in South Africa, the DAAD awards funding for Master and PhD degrees at South African Universities to South Africans citizens or permanent South African residents as part of its In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme.

The DAAD-NRF In-Country Scholarship is jointly awarded by the DAAD and the NRF to full-time Master and PhD students in South Africa in all fields of study at any South African university. A South African citizenship or a permanent South African residency is a requirement for the scholarship.

DAAD-NRF In-Country Scholarship holders are eligible for exciting funding and networking opportunities in addition to the scholarship they have received for their full-time Master or PhD degree in South Africa:

Scholarship holders are eligible to apply for a short-term research visit to Germany
Scholarship holders are eligible to apply for one of six interdisciplinary summer schools offered in Germany during their funding period:
