Egypt’s First Lady praises State Efforts on International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

CAIRO – 17 October 2022: On International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Egyptian First Lady Entisar El Sisi thanked the state’s institutions for their tremendous efforts to eradicate poverty throughout a number of social initiatives.

“On International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, I applaud the efforts made by state institutions with the civil society to eradicate poverty all over Egypt through many initiatives which are coming to fruition day after day,” the First Lady said.

“The most important of these initiatives is “Haya Karima” (Decent Life), which aims to change the lives of millions of Egyptians and provide them with a decent life befitting the new republic,” she added.

The World is celebrating the Eradication of Poverty on October 17. The United Nations said that “1.3 billion people still live in multidimensional poverty with almost half of them children and youth.”

Africa’s economy is estimated at $2.96 trillion. With a population of 1.307 billion, that translates to a per capita GDP of $2,265. Egypt’s per capita GPD is $3,000, well above the African average.
