Angola, EU hold first business forum

Luanda - The Republic of Angola and the European Union (EU) on Friday in Luanda presented the 1st EU-Angola Business Forum, to be held on 24 March in Brussels, Belgium, with the aim of boosting business and intensifying foreign direct investment.

During the announcement, at a press conference on the Business Forum, the Minister for Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano João, said that the main purpose was to provide continuity and greater dynamism to the economic cooperation between Angola and the EU, providing access to new entities to the European market and vice-versa.

For the head of the delegation and permanent representative of the European Union (EU) in Angola, Ambassador Jeannette-Seppen, this forum aims to strengthen partnerships, friendship and to learn about Angola's programming in terms of diversification of the economy, governance and development of human capital.

"What we want is to establish reforms in the business environment and present the practical impact that they have from the perspective of European companies based in Angola," the ambassador said.

The First European Union-Angola Business Forum is designed to attract European investments to the various sectors of the Angolan economy such as Agriculture, Energy and Water, Industry, Logistics and Infrastructure.

The event is expected to bring together some 800 participants, 100 of whom will be in person and 700 virtual, and will be targeted at representatives of the private sector (eight Angolan businesspeople from the 20 or so that are registered), public authorities and around 400 Belgian companies, including 20 managing directors.
