AU CONDEMNS COUP D’ETAT IN GUINEA

 The African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Sunday condemned the takeover by arms in Guinea Conakry, calling for the immediate release of President Alpha Condé.

The Guinean special forces led by Commander Mamady Doumbouya announced on September 5 the transfer of President Alpha Condé. He was arrested in the Presidential Palace.

In a statement, the officer Mamady Doumbouya, justifies this coup by the situation of socio-economic crisis affecting the country.

The mutineers announced the dissolution of the government and the closure of land and air borders.
