COVID-19: ANGOLA REGISTERS 56 NEW INFECTIONS AND 14 RECOVERIES

 The Angolan health authorities announced, this Wednesday, the occurrence of 56 new Covid-19 infections, 14 recoveries and one death, in the last 24 hours.

Of the new cases, according to the secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, 42 were diagnosed in the province of Luanda, 6 in Cabinda, 2 in Benguela, 2 in Huila, 2 in Huambo, 1 in Malange and Lunda-Norte.


Franco Mufinda mentioned that it all refers to 31 male and 25 female patients, whose ages vary from 2 to 75 years of age.


The death involves a 28 year-old Angolan citizen resident in Luanda.


Regarding the recoveries, Franco Mufinda said 11 are resident in Luanda, 2 in Huambo and Moxico.

The country sums a total of 20,640 positive cases, 501 deaths, 19,221 recoveries and 918 currently diseased.

Among the diseased, one is in critical situation, 11 serious, 28 moderate, 33 light and 798 asymptomatic.

The labs processed 1,288 samples, with a daily positive rate of 4.3%.

In the country's treatment centres, 66 patients are hospitalised, while 44 people are in institutional quarantine.

The authorities have on record 1,564 contacts of positive cases under surveillance.
