Covid-19: Angola reaches 5,114 infections, after 142 cases reported in single day

 Angolan health authorities on Thursday announced the record, in the last 24 hours, 141 recoveries and 142 new positive cases, making a total of 5,114 infections in the country.

According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, who was speaking at the usual update session, the new positive cases involve citizens aged between four and 82 years, of which 87 were male and 55 female.

The Government official said that these were cases diagnosed in the provinces of Huíla, with one, the same number in Bengo and 140 in Luanda.

He reported that 141 patients had recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, one case from Zaire province and 140 from Luanda.

In relation to deaths, he noted that two cases were registered involving Angolan men and women, aged 78 and 58, respectively.

Angola has 5,114 positive cases, with 185 deaths, 2,082 recovered and 2,847 active.

Of the active people, 16 are in critical condition with invasive mechanical ventilation, 15 severe, 36 moderate, 101 with mild symptoms and 2,679 asymptomatic.

Health authorities follow 482 patients admitted to treatment centres in the country.
