Health Minister Silvia Lutucuta Monday in Luanda said that national cadres could be trained in the Republic of India, taking advantage of the potential of that Asian country.
Speaking to the press at the end of the first meeting of the Bilateral Joint Commission Angola - India, by videoconference, the minister said that Angola could make the best use of its ties of friendship and cooperation agreements.
"We need to look at this Asian power in terms of knowledge, health industry and pharmaceuticals. India is a major manufacturer of medicines and we want to create factories. We are building hospitals in several provinces and we need to train more technicians and to this end we should take advantage of the capacity of this partner," she said.
Without bringing forward the period of materialisation of that intention, the Health official said that Angolan professionals could attend training courses in India, as well as specialists from that country to come to Angola, in actions in the various areas of the sector.
In relation to the meeting, which was opened by Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António, it analysed a cooperation agreement in the field of health, on removing visas from diplomatic and service passports, a memorandum of understanding between Angola and India's diplomatic institutes.
The ministerial delegation was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, António Francisco de Assis.
Angola and India are expecting growth in investment, as well as trade that has seen renewed impetus after the meeting between President João Lourenço and Prime Minister Narenda Modi, in July 2018, on the fringes of the BRICS summit.
