The Skat 450M
According to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, a Russian Skat 450M reconnaissance drone was intercepted and destroyed in the southern Slobozhanshchyna sector. If confirmed, this marks a major loss for Moscow and a significant victory for Kyiv.
The Skat 450M is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipped with optical cameras and thermal imaging systems. Ukrainian officials describe it as one of Russia’s key platforms for deep aerial reconnaissance and artillery fire adjustment.
Role in missile strikes
Russian forces use the Skat 450M to locate targets and guide Iskander missile strikes. The Iskander is a short-range ballistic missile known for its mobility and destructive capability. Losing such a drone weakens Russia’s ability to coordinate precision attacks.

He may not be alone for long, though. Fellow 2006 World Cup veterans Lionel Messi and goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa could also reach six tournaments.
Oldest World Cup Champion
If Portugal wins its first-ever World Cup title, Ronaldo would become the oldest player ever to win the tournament.
The current record belongs to former Italian goalkeeper Dino Zoff, who was 40 years and four months old when Italy won the 1982 World Cup in Spain.
By the time of the 2026 World Cup Final on July 19, Ronaldo will be 41 years and five months old.
Oldest World Cup Top Scorer
If Ronaldo enjoys one of his trademark goal-scoring runs and finishes as the tournament’s leading scorer, he would become the oldest Golden Boot winner in World Cup history by a significant margin.
Historically, World Cup top scorers have generally been in their early or mid-twenties. The current oldest Golden Boot winner is Uruguay’s Diego Forlán, who was 31 when he scored five goals at South Africa 2010.

This is perhaps Ronaldo’s most difficult target.
With eight World Cup goals, he currently ranks 26th on the tournament’s all-time scoring list.
To equal the record held by Germany’s Miroslav Klose, who scored 16 World Cup goals, Ronaldo would need to score eight times during the 2026 tournament.

Former Teammates Become Rivals in Spain vs. Cape Verde
Aymeric Laporte and Steven Moreira once played together for France’s youth national teams. Now, they are set to face each other at the 2026 FIFA World Cup™.
The Group H opener between Spain and Cape Verde marks a reunion of two former teammates, but this time they will be on opposite sides at Atlanta Stadium. Interestingly, neither player will be representing the country where they were both born: France.
Moreira and Laporte played together for France’s Under-19 and Under-21 teams between 2013 and 2015. A decade later, fate has brought them back together on football’s biggest stage, representing different nations and highlighting the global influence of French football development.
After their youth international careers with France, their paths diverged. Laporte became a Spanish citizen and went on to win the UEFA European Championship with Spain. Moreira chose to represent Cape Verde, a nation competing in its first-ever FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to FIFA, the Cape Verdean right-back laughed about the coincidence and revealed that he had already spoken with his former teammate.
“Yes, I talked to him. We spoke about this match. I hope we can reminisce about the great memories we have from the French national team. Playing against each other in a World Cup will be fun!”
For Moreira, their journeys illustrate the strength of France’s youth development system, particularly in the Paris region, which is widely regarded as one of the world's most prolific football talent factories.
“Honestly, going through the French youth national teams helped me a lot. Just look at how many players from Paris are spread around the world, performing on football’s biggest stages,” Moreira said.
One statistic helps explain the phenomenon: 99 players born in France are competing at this World Cup, representing 12 different countries.
Different Paths
Moreira and Laporte were teammates in the French Under-19 side that finished as runners-up at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, losing the final to Serbia, which would go on to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup the following year.
That squad also included Adrien Rabiot, who is representing France at this World Cup. Ivory Coast striker Sébastien Haller played alongside the trio at Under-21 level.
After their last youth-team appearance together in 2015, the two players followed very different paths.
Steven Moreira never broke into France’s senior national team. After moving to the United States in 2020, he began receiving interest from Cape Verdean football officials. In 2023, he accepted the invitation to represent the country of his parents’ birth.
Aymeric Laporte’s story took a different turn. At age 16, he moved to Spain to join Athletic Club in the Basque Country. Deeply connected to Spanish football, he stated in 2015 that he would consider changing national teams if opportunities with France failed to materialize.
When those opportunities remained limited, he followed through on that promise. Since making his Spain debut in 2021, Laporte has earned 45 caps and helped Spain win UEFA Euro 2024. The one major trophy still missing from his résumé is the FIFA World Cup, and Spain enters the tournament as one of the favorites.
A decade after sharing the same dressing room with France’s Under-21 team, Laporte and Moreira will stand on opposite sides at a World Cup match—one representing Spain, the other Cape Verde.

Recently, our founder, Sofonie Dala, shared some impressive photos and videos from Madame Tussauds London, where she was photographed alongside famous figures and members of the British Royal Family during her 2025 visit.
While looking through an old family photo album, she rediscovered a fascinating childhood memory that she had completely forgotten.
Interesting fact about Sofonie's childhood:
Growing up in Russia, Sofonie attended school in Magnitogorsk. Around 2007–2008, her teacher, Marina Velovna, organized a class outing to a Выставка восковых фигур (Wax Figure Exhibition).
During that visit, young Sofonie posed for a memorable photograph with a wax figure of Vladimir Putin.
Nearly two decades later, she found herself visiting Madame Tussauds London, creating new memories among world-famous personalities and historical figures. Discovering the old photograph was a reminder of how childhood experiences can unexpectedly connect with moments later in life.
From a school excursion in Russia to visiting one of the world's most famous wax museums in London, the journey makes for a remarkable story hidden within a family photo album.

Scientific Conference in Sumbe Promotes Research and Innovation in Health

Sumbe – The Higher Polytechnic Institute of Cuanza-Sul today opened the 2nd Scientific-Pedagogical Health Conference in the city of Sumbe. The initiative aims to promote scientific research, knowledge sharing, and recognition of the nursing profession, as part of the celebrations for International Nurses Day.
At the opening, the director of the Provincial Health Office of Cuanza-Sul, Nelson Camilo, paid tribute to the province’s nurses for their “professionalism, humanism, and sense of mission” demonstrated in their work. He emphasized that nurses are “an essential pillar of the health system,” being on the front line of care and providing comfort and hope to citizens.
Camilo reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to continue supporting and valuing the profession, recognizing the impact of their work on improving health services.
The conference is held under the motto: “Our nurses, our future: empowered nurses save lives.” Discussions include topics such as nursing theories in comprehensive training and the nursing process as a work tool.
The president of the Higher Polytechnic Institute, Raimundo Kwaya, stated that the event seeks to demonstrate the scientific capacity of students and encourage the exchange of experiences among teachers, professionals, and researchers in health.
The coordinator of the nursing course, Felizardo Neto, explained that the conference aims to stimulate scientific research and innovation among students and professionals.
Participants will address issues such as primary health care in communities, hospitals, health centers, and clinics.
The president of the Provincial Nursing Council of Cuanza-Sul, Amadeu Octávio Papolo, congratulated the province’s professionals for their dedication and called for strengthening ethics and professional conduct. He noted that nursing in the province has improved thanks to increased academic training and the opening of specialization courses, which have allowed professionals to acquire new skills for better patient care.
According to data presented during the event, the Order of Nurses currently oversees around 4,000 professionals in Cuanza-Sul province.
The conference brings together teachers, students, health professionals, and invited guests.
João Lourenço Honored with High Decoration from Algeria

Algiers (Special Correspondent) – The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, was awarded on Monday with Algeria’s highest honorary decoration, in recognition of his commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Angola and Algeria.
The distinction was presented by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during a ceremony in Algiers, as part of João Lourenço’s three‑day state visit to the North African country.
At the same event, the Angolan Head of State conferred upon the Algerian leader the Agostinho Neto Order, the highest honor granted by Angola to personalities distinguished by significant achievements in favor of nations and peoples.
The ceremony brought together members of both governments, business leaders, academics, diplomats, and other invited guests.
Following the exchange of decorations, Algerian authorities hosted an official dinner in honor of President João Lourenço, in an atmosphere that highlighted the strengthening of political, diplomatic, and historical ties between Luanda and Algiers.
The tribute to both Heads of State came after the signing of 11 cooperation agreements between Angola and Algeria, covering sectors such as Oil and Gas, Transport, Mining, Water Resources, Vocational Training, Postal Services, and Telecommunications, among other strategic areas.
