Angola delays restart of classes in primary education amid covid-19

 Angolan government has decided to postpone the resumption of lessons in primary education, the largest chunk of the education system.

Class resumption in primary education (1st-5th grade) was scheduled for October 26 this year.

Under the Government programme, classes resumed on October 5th, covering the transition classes (6th, 9th, 12th and 13th grades).

Also in compliance with the gradual return strategy, classes began all over the country's university system.

As for the students with 7th, 8th, 10th and 11th grades of the First and Second Cycle of secondary education, classes kicked off  on 19th.

In this new phase, classes should be divided into groups of up to 20 students.

In primary and First cycle, classes have a duration of 2 hours and half, whereas in the 2nd cycle of secondary education it will be 3 hours and half, without breaks.

According to the Minister of State and Head of Civil Affairs to President, Adão de Almeida, who was speaking at a press conference on Friday, the postponement in the Primary Education owed to the increase in Covid-19 positive cases in the country.
