FPSO great plutonium produces 600 million barrels of oil

Floating Production, Storage and Offloading Unit (FPSO) Great Plutonium has produced 600 million barrels of oil in 13 years, said National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) on Thursday.

Operated by BP in partnership with Sinopec Angola, FPSO Great Plutonium, located in block 18, won the inaugural prize on low carbon emissions from BP (Helios) in 2019.

Despite difficulties and challenges posed by covid-19 pandemic to the operators, BP guarantees that it has managed to keep the operational efficiency levels, as planned for the first half of 2020.

In order to ensure that future production and profitability levels remain, BP pledges to improve the performance of the water injection system that will enable greater stability in the future production as well as in the continuous reduction of gas flaring.

BP Angola senior vice-president Adriano Bastos, attributed the result to the permanent commitment to team work, training and security in the works done in Angola.

“I am confident that the resilience of the team in Angola will continue to add value to the country and BP”, he said.

In turn, the ANPG chairperson, Paulino Jerónimo, stressed everyone’s contribution to the role played by the companies that guarantee the updating and innovation of the Angolan oil sector.
