Covid-19: Commission condemns illegal practices

The Multisectoral Commission for the Prevention and Fight against COVID-19 strongly condemned on Monday the practice of acts and activities that disobey the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 256/20 of 8 October.

According to a statement from the commission, sent to ANGOP, these practices call into question the individual health of Angolans and pose a great risk to their collective health, and therefore urged the administrative and public safety authorities to adopt the necessary measures to ensure compliance with the standards in force and to safeguard life.

In the note, the call to all citizens for compliance with individual and collective protection measures guided by the health authorities was reiterated.

The Commission notes, meanwhile, that it has followed with great concern the practice of these acts and the carrying out of activities which do not comply with the provisions of Presidential Decree 256/20 of 8 October on the Situation of Public Calamity, such as going to beaches.

The commission points out that beaches are still prohibited and cannot be frequented by citizens, as are bathing areas and swimming pools accessible to the public.

It stresses that non-domestic festive activities are prohibited, and that events in party halls throughout the country are liable to be held by the promoters and owners of the spaces.

Night-time entertainment establishments (discos, casinos and the like) are also closed, while home-based festive activities can only take place with a number of participants not exceeding 15.

According to the Presidential Decree 256/20 on the Situation of Public Calamity, cultural performances may be held provided that they are indoors, have seating and do not exceed 50% of the room capacity.
