The Supreme Court (TS) ruled on the immediate burial of a citizen who died of Covid-19, in Benguela.
The decision follows a demand by the family, which conditioned the funeral on an autopsy.
The family claimed that the patient might not have died of Covid-19 as his contacts had tested negative.
Meanwhile, the director of the Provincial Health Office in Benguela, António Cabinda, reconfirmed this Saturday that the death was for Covid-19 and that his wife had also tested positive.
In reaction to the demand from relatives, and following a request from the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, the TS decided that the burial should take place immediately.
According to the court, it should take place in accordance with international conventions and other World Health Organisation guidelines.
"Having the wife of the deceased tested positive and two children being reactive to the serological tests, we believe that the public health of the entire community living in Benguela and not only should not be questioned, for opinions that contradict scientifically proven diagnoses, as is the case here," reads the ST order to which Angop had access.
